About Mrs. Houser

Mona Houser has loved music since she was a small child. At about age six, she began studying the piano. Throughout her years of elementary and high school and college, she continued her study of music in band, choirs and on the piano. She served as a pianist and worship leader at Christian Outreach Church for about 20 years. She has sung with the Jefferson College Community Choir through the years and is now with the professional choir, the American Kantorei in St. Louis.

Ms. Mona especially enjoys teaching and accompanying. She served as the accompanist at Christian Outreach School from 1991-2008, where she had taught Music History classes, and accompanied the DeSoto Junior High choirs for several years. In 1990, she began teaching private piano lessons, and in the years since, has taught over 250 students. Her teaching has inspired a number of them to continue their study of music in college. Certified by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Mrs. Houser has been in their their Hall of Fame since 2005. She currently serves at organist and music director at Zion Lutheran Church near Hillsboro.

Mrs. Houser and her husband David live at Goldman, Missouri, where they reared their five children, the oldest three of whom were born while the couple were missionaries in Papua New Guinea. Her hobbies include genealogy and knitting.
